About ENT Procedures

Ear, nose, and throat surgery in Thailand covers a broad range of conditions affecting the head and neck, from chronic sinusitis to thyroid disease. ENT specialists at accredited Thai hospitals are experienced in both medical and surgical management, using endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques wherever possible.

The most frequently performed ENT procedure is sinus surgery (functional endoscopic sinus surgery) is one of the most frequently performed ENT procedures, clearing blocked sinuses and improving breathing for patients with chronic sinusitis or nasal polyps. Septoplasty corrects a deviated nasal septum that causes breathing obstruction, and can be combined with sinus surgery in the same operation.

For thyroid conditions, thyroid surgery addresses thyroid nodules, goitre, and thyroid cancer, with both conventional and minimally invasive approaches available. Sleep apnoea surgery is offered for patients with obstructive sleep apnoea who have not responded to CPAP or other conservative treatments.

For hearing restoration, tympanoplasty repairs perforated eardrums and restores hearing, typically as a day-case procedure with a short recovery period. All ENT procedures include pre-operative imaging and endoscopic assessment, with follow-up care before you travel home.

Before you choose

How to Decide Which Procedure Is Right for You

Share your scans and history first

Send recent CT scans, hearing tests and your history so the ENT team can plan the right procedure before you book a trip.

Know if it is day-case or a stay

A tympanoplasty may be day-case while sinus or thyroid surgery needs a night or two in hospital, so ask before you plan dates.

Plan recovery before booking flights

Most ENT procedures need several days in Thailand so swelling settles and your surgeon can review healing before you travel home.

Ask about flying and ear pressure

Ear and sinus surgery change how you handle cabin pressure, so your surgeon will confirm when it is safe for you to fly home.

ENT Surgery in Thailand, Answered

The questions patients ask most before booking an ear, nose or throat procedure abroad.

At JCI-accredited hospitals the safety standards can match those of Western private hospitals. As with surgery anywhere, the real variable is choosing an accredited facility and a board-certified ENT surgeon rather than a discount clinic. Every procedure still carries risks, so ask your surgeon to talk you through them at consultation.

It depends on the procedure. A day-case tympanoplasty needs only a short stay, while sinus, sleep apnoea or thyroid surgery usually means a night or two in hospital and several more days in Thailand so your surgeon can review healing before you fly.

Honest results vary by condition and by patient. Sinus and septum surgery usually improve breathing, tympanoplasty often restores hearing, and thyroid surgery removes the affected tissue. Your surgeon will explain what is realistic for your case at consultation rather than promise a fixed outcome.

Every ENT procedure carries risks such as bleeding, infection and reactions to anaesthetic, and some carry a small chance of changes to hearing, smell or voice. Ear and sinus surgery also affect how you cope with cabin pressure, so your surgeon will confirm when it is safe to fly. Long-haul flying soon after surgery raises the risk of blood clots too, which is why a short stay is advised before you travel home.

We ask for your recent scans, hearing or endoscopy reports and a summary of your symptoms and medical history. Sharing these early lets the ENT team assess your case, confirm the right procedure and give you an accurate quote before you commit to travel.

Reputable hospitals give you a written aftercare plan and stay reachable for remote follow-up, and issues that surface later, such as bleeding after nose surgery or a check on healing, can usually be handled with a doctor at home. Confirm what is covered and for how long before you commit.

ENT procedures in Thailand typically cost 50 to 70 percent less than at home, and more on some procedures, even after flights and accommodation, as the price table above shows.
