It suits people who want a shorter, reversible intervention or a stepping stone before deciding about surgery, and it is also offered as part of a wider non-surgical weight loss programme with diagnostics, medication and coaching.

Some patients arrive having already had an operation elsewhere. Revision bariatric surgery covers converting one procedure to another, removing a band that is no longer working, or repairing an anatomical problem such as a stricture or a hiatal hernia. Revisions are technically harder than first-time surgery and are planned around your original operative notes, current endoscopy and imaging, so they need more preparation before anyone commits to a date.
