Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital

Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital was established in 2007 by the Bangkok Hospital group as a hospital for cancer care only, and it describes itself as Thailand's first private cancer hospital. Its name, given by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, means a hospital for advanced medicine. It sits on the Bangkok Hospital Headquarters campus off New Petchburi Road, where it brings screening, diagnosis, surgery, drug treatment, radiotherapy and supportive care together under one team, with the group's general hospital next door for other health problems.

Our Assessment of Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital

Independent verdict

Wattanosoth suits patients who want all of their cancer care planned and delivered in one specialist hospital. It covers the main parts of treatment under one roof, including surgery with robotic assistance, chemotherapy and targeted drugs, radiotherapy and radiosurgery, blood and marrow stem cell transplant, and palliative care, and its multidisciplinary approach is backed by an ESMO designation for integrated oncology and palliative care. It also publishes prices for cancer screening packages and some breast cancer surgery, which helps with planning.

The main caveat is accreditation. Wattanosoth does not hold a JCI award in its own name; it states that it is covered by the Joint Commission International accreditation of the Bangkok Hospital Headquarters campus. The most recent JCI term the group publishes ran from February 2023 to February 2026, and we could not find a published renewal or reach the JCI directory to confirm the current term, so patients should ask the hospital for its current certificate. Its earlier JCI certification for its breast cancer programme ran until 2024. The campus is among the more expensive private options in Bangkok, the hospital does not publish its bed numbers, and the survival figures it publishes are its own and not independently audited.

It is a sensible choice for a confirmed or suspected cancer where a coordinated treatment plan matters, or for a second opinion. Patients who only want a general health check-up, or whose main problem is not cancer, will be better served by the group's general hospital on the same campus, which we profile separately as Bangkok Hospital.

Who Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital Is Best For

In one sentence, Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital is the right choice for coordinated cancer treatment and second opinions who accept premium tier pricing. The lists below tell you whether that is you.

A strong fit if you

  • Patients with a confirmed or suspected cancer who want all treatment in one specialist hospital
  • Breast cancer diagnosis and surgery with published package prices
  • Radiotherapy and radiosurgery, including brachytherapy
  • Blood cancers needing stem cell transplant
  • Cancer screening with low-dose CT, endoscopy and optional PET/CT

Look elsewhere if you

  • Patients looking for general medical care or a routine health check-up
  • Those who want an accreditation awarded in the hospital's own name
  • Patients choosing mainly on cost

Accreditations, Verified

Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital states that it is covered by the Joint Commission International accreditation of the Bangkok Hospital Headquarters campus, and it holds Thai Hospital Accreditation and an ESMO designation in its own name. We could not reach the JCI online directory to confirm the current JCI term, and we have listed only what we could confirm.

JCI Accredited (Bangkok Hospital Headquarters campus)

Joint Commission International. Wattanosoth states on its Breast Center page that it holds JCI accreditation, and the BDMS group describes it as a JCI-accredited facility within the Bangkok Hospital Headquarters campus; it does not hold a separate award in its own name. The group publishes a sixth consecutive accreditation for Bangkok Hospital Headquarters for February 2023 to February 2026, and an earlier JCI programme certification for breast cancer that ran from 2008 to 2024. We were unable to retrieve a listing from the JCI online directory or a published renewal after February 2026, so the current term rests on the hospital's own statements.

What Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital Costs

Wattanosoth sits at the upper end of Bangkok's private hospital market, in line with the rest of the Bangkok Hospital Headquarters campus. It publishes prices for cancer screening packages and some breast procedures, but not for most cancer treatment, which depends on the type and stage of cancer. The prices below were taken from the hospital's own package pages on 12 October 2026; the screening and breast surgery prices were listed as valid until 31 December 2026, and screening prices apply to online purchases. For treatment, we recommend requesting an itemised quote.

Paying for treatment

Cards, transfers and cash. Major credit and debit cards, bank transfer and cash in Thai baht are accepted at almost every facility we profile, and many also take mobile wallets.
Deposits and insurance. A deposit is normally required before treatment, and larger hospitals can bill contracted international insurers directly once a guarantee letter is in place. Cosmetic and dental treatment is usually self funded.
Confirmed before you commit. Your personalised quote sets out the exact payment methods, deposit and any insurance arrangements for your chosen hospital.

International Patient Services at Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital

Wattanosoth uses the international patient services of the Bangkok Hospital Headquarters campus. The details below reflect what the hospital and group publish.

Cancer Hotline

The Cancer Hotline, +66 2 755 1188, is answered from 8am to 8pm, with +66 2 310 3000 after hours. The group also takes enquiries on WhatsApp (+66 64 140 5673) and LINE (@bangkokhospital).

Multidisciplinary Planning

Treatment is planned by teams of surgeons, oncologists, radiologists and nurses, which also suits patients seeking a second opinion on an existing diagnosis.

Payment & Insurance

The hospital does not publish its own list of direct-billing insurers. We recommend confirming insurance cover and billing arrangements with the hospital before travelling.

If something goes wrong after you fly home

Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital provides a post-operative care plan before you leave, and follow-up communication with your surgical team can be arranged through its international patient office.

As your coordinator we stay in the loop after you land. If a concern comes up we help you reach your surgeon, get records to a local doctor, and understand what the hospital will and will not cover. We tell you this before you book, not after.

How Booking Works at Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital

  1. Contact the Cancer Hotline on +66 2 755 1188, or the group on WhatsApp (+66 64 140 5673), and send any existing scans, pathology reports and treatment history.
  2. Ask for a consultation with the relevant specialist team and a written estimate for the proposed treatment plan.
  3. For screening, buy the package online at the published price and follow the preparation instructions, including fasting before endoscopy.

When you enquire through us, our care team handles these steps with the hospital on your behalf and confirms everything back to you before you commit to anything.

How We Evaluated Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital

Our hospital profiles are independently researched by our editorial team. No hospital can pay to be listed here, ranked higher or reviewed favourably. For Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital we focused on its cancer services and on how its accreditation relates to the Bangkok Hospital Headquarters campus. Here is what we assessed. Our checks are desk-based, verified against the issuing bodies' registers and the hospital's own published materials rather than a hospital-arranged visit. Read the full methodology.

Accreditation & certification

We confirmed each accreditation directly with the issuing bodies and against published records, rather than relying on marketing claims, so the badges you see are real.

Clinical credentials & depth

We checked the qualifications of the clinicians who would treat you and the depth of the specialist teams, technology and inpatient support standing behind them.

International patient systems

We assessed whether there is a genuine international patient service — multilingual staff, visa help and structured coordination — rather than just a translated website.

Care coordination & follow-up

We looked for documented care plans, follow-up scheduling and clear channels, so you can still reach your care team once you have flown home.

Pricing transparency

We evaluated whether estimates are itemised and given in writing upfront, covering treatment, stay and follow-up, rather than arriving as one opaque figure.

Patient feedback patterns

We reviewed patient reports across multiple independent sources, looking for consistent themes in satisfaction, complaints and treatment outcomes.

How we make money

Hospitals cannot pay for placement, ranking or a favourable review anywhere on this site. We earn a coordination fee from the hospital only when you choose to book through us, and it never changes your price. That conflict is why we publish our evaluation criteria and sources on every profile, and link accreditations to the issuing bodies.
