Last reviewed 12 October 2026 · How we evaluate
Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital stands on Srinakarin Road in Suan Luang, on the eastern side of Bangkok, and is one of the main hospitals of the Samitivej group, which also runs Samitivej Sukhumvit. It is best known for its children's hospital, which moved into a new eight-storey building in 2025, but it is also a full general hospital with 400 beds, a centre for cancer and blood disorders, a spine centre that takes on difficult repeat back surgery, and a fertility centre. Its location, under 30 minutes from Suvarnabhumi Airport according to the hospital, makes it a practical choice for patients flying in.

Our Assessment of Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital
Samitivej Srinakarin is a strong option for families and for patients who want a large accredited hospital near Suvarnabhumi Airport rather than in central Bangkok. Its children's hospital is the clearest strength: a new eight-storey building opened in 2025 with 111 paediatric beds, including neonatal and paediatric intensive care beds, and a partnership with Doernbecher Children's Hospital at Oregon Health & Science University. For adults it runs a cancer and blood disorders centre with bone marrow transplant rooms, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, a spine centre with an MRI scanner inside the operating theatre, and a fertility centre.
The trade-offs are mainly about information. The Samitivej website covers the whole group, so it is often hard to tell which services sit at Srinakarin and which at Sukhumvit, and the hospital does not publish prices for treatment or outcome data. We could not retrieve a current entry from the JCI online directory, so its accreditation rests on Samitivej's own statement and older published lists. It is also a long way from the central Sukhumvit area where many visitors stay, with no rail station on the doorstep.
It suits families needing paediatric or neonatal care, patients with complex spine problems, cancer patients who may need a bone marrow transplant, and visitors who want to be close to the airport. Patients who want to stay in central Bangkok may find its sister hospital, Samitivej Sukhumvit, more convenient.

Accreditations, Verified
Samitivej states that Joint Commission International has accredited its three main hospitals, Sukhumvit, Srinakarin and Sriracha. We confirmed this through Samitivej's own published statement and a dated UK government list of JCI-accredited hospitals in Thailand, but we could not retrieve a current entry from the JCI online directory. We have listed only the accreditation we could confirm.

JCI is the leading global standard for hospital quality and patient safety. We were unable to independently retrieve a current listing from the JCI online directory, so the current award date rests on the hospital's own statements.

About Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital
Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital is at 488 Srinakarin Road in the Suan Luang district of eastern Bangkok. It belongs to the Samitivej group, part of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), whose first hospital opened in 1979 and which also runs Samitivej Sukhumvit, Samitivej Sriracha and other hospitals. The group describes Srinakarin as a 400-bed hospital with more than 500 medical professionals, offering a full range of services for Thai and international patients.
The hospital is home to one of the two branches of the Samitivej International Children's Hospital. In 2025 the children's hospital moved into a new eight-storey building at Srinakarin, opened by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in March 2025 and backed by a 2 billion baht investment. It has 111 beds, including 12 for critically ill children and 8 neonatal intensive care beds, and its neonatal unit cares for premature babies under 500 grams. It works with Doernbecher Children's Hospital at Oregon Health & Science University and with Takatsuki General Hospital in Japan.
For adults, Srinakarin hosts the group's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, which offers chemotherapy, radiotherapy and autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplantation in dedicated rooms. Its spine centre, which includes a Failed Back Center for patients whose pain continues after earlier surgery, brings neurosurgeons, rehabilitation doctors and physiotherapists together, and its operating theatre has 2D and 3D imaging and an MRI scanner for use during or after surgery. The hospital also runs heart, neurology, arthroscopic and sports orthopaedic, fertility and wellness centres, and a 24-hour emergency and trauma centre.

Common Questions About Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital
What patients typically want to know before choosing this hospital
How We Evaluated Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital
Our hospital profiles are independently researched by our editorial team. No hospital can pay to be listed here, ranked higher or reviewed favourably. For Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital we verified only what the Samitivej group publishes about this branch and what appears in dated official or reputable sources. Here is what we assessed. Our checks are desk-based, verified against the issuing bodies' registers and the hospital's own published materials rather than a hospital-arranged visit. Read the full methodology.
We confirmed each accreditation directly with the issuing bodies and against published records, rather than relying on marketing claims, so the badges you see are real.
We checked the qualifications of the clinicians who would treat you and the depth of the specialist teams, technology and inpatient support standing behind them.
We assessed whether there is a genuine international patient service — multilingual staff, visa help and structured coordination — rather than just a translated website.
We looked for documented care plans, follow-up scheduling and clear channels, so you can still reach your care team once you have flown home.
We evaluated whether estimates are itemised and given in writing upfront, covering treatment, stay and follow-up, rather than arriving as one opaque figure.
We reviewed patient reports across multiple independent sources, looking for consistent themes in satisfaction, complaints and treatment outcomes.
How we make money
Hospitals cannot pay for placement, ranking or a favourable review anywhere on this site. We earn a coordination fee from the hospital only when you choose to book through us, and it never changes your price. That conflict is why we publish our evaluation criteria and sources on every profile, and link accreditations to the issuing bodies.
If you believe any information on this profile is inaccurate or outdated, please contact our editorial team and we will check it against the source.
